Your vehicle's air conditioner is what keeps you and your passengers comfortable when driving in the extreme heat of the summer, so if it is having difficulty doing so, it is important to head to an AC repair shop immediately. There are numerous reasons your air conditioner may be having trouble keeping you cool, including mildew and AC leaks. Here are a few warning indications of the most common problems.
Little to No Airflow
If the air vents are open, the air conditioning system is on, and you still aren't getting cool, then there are several likely causes. There may be an AC leak, a broken fan, or a faulty compressor. One thing you should pay attention to is how much airflow is coming out of the vents and what the temperature of that air is like. This type of information will be helpful to the auto AC repair technician when it comes to diagnosing the issue.
Bad Odors
The AC in your vehicle can trap moisture, leading to the development of bacteria and mold. When you turn on the AC and notice a damp, musty odor, turn the AC back off until you're able to get to a repair shop. It is unhealthy to breathe in bacteria and mold spores.
Strange Sounds
Clanking, rattling, and grinding sounds when the AC is switched on are likely indications that there is a loose component somewhere within the AC system. Water Stains

Low Pressure
Again, similar to your home AC, your vehicle's air conditioner relies on refrigerant to transfer heat away and send cold air into the cabin of your car. If there is a leak, the refrigerant will escape, causing the pressure to be lower than necessary. If the refrigerant pressure is low, the AC will lose its ability to properly cool. In some cases, there may be a greasy film of refrigerant on the AC itself. If you believe you have low pressure, reach out to a repair shop where a technician can test the system.
